Who is Wiehler Mechanical?
Marty Wiehler started this company in Calgary in 1979. His son John runs it today, and his brother Eric makes it a family-trio of Wiehlers. We’re now more than 100 people looking after plumbing, heating, air conditioning and hot water tanks in Calgary and the towns around it. Built on Trust started when we took the money we used to spend on advertising and put it into free home safety checks instead.

Okay, what's the catch?
We will leave you with a fridge magnet. We’re betting that when something in your home eventually breaks, you’ll call the company whose magnet is already on your fridge.
Is this secretly a sales visit?
No. There’s no pitch, no quote, and no follow-up sales calls. If something fails a check, it goes on your written list. If you’d like the tech to supply something small on the spot, say a smoke-detector battery, they can, but only if you ask. The tech won’t offer, and nobody will call you about it afterwards.
What happens if you find something?
It goes on your written list, along with why it matters and how urgent it looks. The tech hands you the list and heads out. We only put a quote together if you ask for one. The list is yours, so you can bring it to us, take it to another company, or do nothing with it at all.
If something looks unsafe, the tech will show you what they’re seeing and explain it in plain language before anything else happens.
If what we find is something we can replace or fix right away, the technician will give you the options right then and there, for you to make a decision, or to give you the information you need to DIY.

My house is only a few years old. Is this worth it?
Newer homes fail in their own ways. Think builder-grade furnaces that are already out of warranty, or detectors nobody has tested since possession day. Either way, it’s free.
How soon can you come?
Tell us what works for you and we’ll lock in a firm date by text or a quick call, whichever you pick.
How long does it take?
The time required for the 9-point check will depend on your home, the equipment being reviewed, and any questions you may have. The technician will complete the full check, walk you through your shutoffs, and answer your questions during the visit.
There’s nothing you need to prepare or purchase. It helps if the technician can access your furnace, water heater, and detectors, but you don’t need to clean or move anything. We just ask that someone be home during the appointment.
What areas do you cover?
Wiehler typically serves Calgary, Chestermere, Cochrane, Airdrie, Aldersyde, High River, Okotoks, and Red Deer.
However, for the free home inspection, we are currently limiting the offer to Calgary, and may open up the program to the surrounding area if we get enough interest.
